Among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor. "Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say, "Father, save me from this hour"? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again." The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him." Jesus answered, "This voice has come for your sake, not for mine. Now is the judgement of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."

A second collection for the Exaltation of the Holy Cross will be taken on September 12th & 13th.
Registration for 1st Holy Communion and Maronite Christian Formation (MCF) Classes are now open! Registration forms are available on our parish website, ololeaston.com. Printed copies may be found at both church entrances. Parents are encouraged to continue their child's faith formation beyond First Holy Communion so they may grow more deeply in the Maronite tradition and in their relationship with Christ.
This month, the Holy Name Society and St. Theresa Sodality are collecting Jelly for ProJeCt of Easton. Donations will be accepted this weekend, September 12th and 13th. Thank you for your continued support!

The Cross is not simply a sign that we make on our bodies or place in our homes and churches. It is the mystery of God's love and the salvation of humanity. On the Cross, Christ revealed to us that true love is capable of giving itself completely, even to the very end. 1. The Cross is a Sign of Love - Jesus tells us: "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son" (John 3:16). The Cross tells us that God does not love us only with words. He loved us so deeply that He gave Himself for us. 2. The Cross is a Sign of Salvation - On the Cross, Christ carried our sins and our suffering and opened for us the way to reconciliation with God. Therefore, the Cross is not only a symbol of death; it is the passage from death to life. 3. The Cross is a School of Forgiveness - From the Cross, Jesus prayed: "Father, forgive them." Here we learn that Christians are not called to live as prisoners of hatred and revenge. We learn from Christ to forgive, even when forgiveness is difficult. 4. The Cross is a School of Humility and Self-Giving - Christ, although He is Lord and Savior, humbled Himself and accepted the Cross. The Cross therefore calls us to move beyond selfishness and to serve our families, our Church, and others with love. 5. The Cross is Hope in Times of Suffering - Every person carries a cross: illness, difficulties, loss, family problems, or anxiety about the future. The Holy Cross reminds us that we do not carry our cross alone. Christ walks with us, and suffering united with Christ can become a path of grace and hope. 6. The Cross Leads to the Resurrection - The story does not end at the Cross or in the tomb. After Good Friday comes the Resurrection. Therefore, our faith in the Cross is faith that life is stronger than death, light is stronger than darkness, and hope is stronger than despair. Conclusion: When we make the Sign of the Cross on our forehead, our heart, and our body, let us make it with faith and say within ourselves: Lord, make Your Cross in my life a sign of love when I am tempted to hate, forgiveness when I am hurt, hope when I am afraid, strength when I am weak, and a path that always leads me to the Resurrection. The Cross is not only what we carry; it is Christ Himself who carries us when we can no longer carry our own cross.
